Introduction to the apprenticeship project:

Vocational apprenticeship is a project characterized by a combination of receiving academic information, practical applications in the educational institution, and training on the job sites in companies and institutions.

The vocational apprenticeship project is considered one of the reform projects adopted by governments and civil labor organizations to improve the outcomes of the education project by working to provide students with the skills they need for the labor market. It combines learning in education or training institutions with basic work-based learning in companies and other workplaces. The development of technical and vocational education is considered one of the basic pillars of this ambitious project.

The vocational apprenticeship program seeks to increase the acquisition of knowledge and skills, improve job opportunities for young men and women, and facilitate their transition to the labor market thanks to the experiences and skills acquired during training. The program also focuses on acquiring skills related to labor market needs.

Objective of the apprenticeship project:

Improving the level of students’ skills by implementing a system that the labor market participates in preparing and implementing to ensure that students master the basic professional competencies that the labor market aspires to.

-Offering developed and modern programs suitable for males and females, as the system includes closed specializations in addition to other specializations that are planned to be opened based on the need of the labor market.

- Applying more appropriate and diverse teaching and learning strategies that work to provide students with a satisfactory work ethic.

The importance of the apprenticeship program, which is primarily based on matching training outcomes with labor market requirements, explaining that the International Labor Organization aims, through the apprenticeship program, to increase the transfer of knowledge and skills, improve job opportunities for young men and women, and facilitate their transition to the labor market thanks to the competencies acquired during training.

According to the latest figures issued by the International Labor Organization, unemployment rates among youth in the Middle East and North Africa regions are the highest in the world, reaching 27.2 and 29 percent, respectively. Specific apprenticeships have been shown to be effective in overcoming the problem of lack of work experience that hinders young people's transition from school to work.

Applying professional apprenticeship at the College of Computer at Al-Razi University

Based on the vision, mission, and goals of the College of Computer and Information Technology at Al-Razi University, it sought to integrate the outcomes of higher education and the requirements of the labor market, and to bridge the gap between the outcomes of higher education and the changing market requirements, through implementing professional apprenticeship programs and signing partnership contracts with a number of companies specialized in the fields of information technology. Such as (Yemen Soft Company, WhiteTech Company, Ebdaa Soft Company, Betasys, etc.)

The university also presented graduation projects that fit the requirements of the labor market and under the technical supervision of specialized companies that signed partnership contracts with the university.
